Abstract

Academician Niko Berdzenishvili, a prominent representative of Georgian historical science, was the most dedicated defender of the national heritage. In the materials of the Batumi Boys’ Gymnasium Fund (1904-1917) of the Central State Archive of Ajara, scarce but very interesting archival documents about the distinguished scientist were found. Among them are certificates of clerical rank, certificates of transfer from one class to another at the boys’ gymnasium and certificates of completion of the school, documents related to permission to take exams externally, protocols of the pedagogical council, materials reflecting the participation of students in the revolutionary movement, secret letters from the heads of the relevant structure, etc.
