Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to Archeion. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet the minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

 

General requirements for the  paper

  • The paper must have: a title, summary/abstract, keywords, main part, conclusion and a list of verified literature sorted alphabetically;
  • The paper may have several authors (no more than 3 authors); data about the author(s) must be indicated (name, surname, country/city, place of work, position, academic degree, contact email address, telephone).
  • The summary must include the relevance of the topic, the purpose of the research and the main conclusions. It must be at least 2500 characters. An English summary must be attached to the published Georgian-language paper, and a Georgian summary to the foreign-language paper.
  • The author must attach 4-8 keywords to the paper in Georgian and in the language of the summary/abstract.

Procedures and criteria for selecting and referencing works and archival sources

 

Rules for selecting works for publication in the journal "Archeion"

A work will be published in the journal "Archeion" that thematically and structurally meets the requirements and successfully passes the review.

The topic of the work selected for publication must be relevant, contain some novelty and valuable conclusions according to the relevant directions (which must be reflected in the reviewers' conclusion).

Archival documentary sources selected for publication must be of special value.

Procedure for Referencing / Reviewing a Paper

Papers that are thematically consistent with the journal profile and are formatted in accordance with the established criteria will be submitted for review to two experts / reviewers in the relevant field. Reviewing is anonymous.

Highly qualified scientists with significant achievements in their field are selected as reviewers.

The reviewer evaluates the review paper according to predetermined criteria and fills in the appropriate form. The review will be sent to the editor(s) within the established deadline.

Paper evaluation criteria:

  • Relevance of the research topic;
  • Scientific novelty of the paper;
  • Convincingness of the author's point of view;
  • Professional integrity;
  • Language fluency.

Papers will be published in the journal based on the positive conclusion of both reviewers. In the case of a negative review, the final decision on the publication of the paper is made by the Editorial Board.

The language of the paper: Georgian, English, Russian.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
