Abstract

Abstract. In the study of early Georgian legal history, criminal law occupies a particularly significant position compared to other branches of law, as its individual legal norms and institutions most clearly reflect the social structure, the relationship between social classes, and the struggle between the ruling and the oppressed strata. Research conducted by Georgian scholars demonstrates that no narrative sources on criminal or civil law from the early feudal period have survived. Nevertheless, in the absence of direct legal sources, it is possible to rely on indirect evidence, including ecclesiastical monuments and historical writings, to reconstruct, as far as possible, materials relating to various aspects of criminal law.
